The sun shone down on 3 days of extraordinary entertainment that saw us grooving with North Africa’s ‘Toumast’, laughing along with ‘Chumbawamba’ and the ‘Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain’, learning to Salsa with ‘Pagoda’, jumping around to skater punk with ‘La Brass Banda’ (in a Bavarian umpah-style of course), crying to two little boys with ‘Rolf Harris’ and ending with a magical set from ‘Gil Scott Heron’ who just (unexpectedly it has to be said) blew me away – what an amazing week-end! The first Deershed Festival was a mighty fine affair, like a school fete with added umph - Small and friendly with the wonderful ‘Justin Adams & Juldeh Camara’ and the Weddoes playing Bizzaro to round things off. ACE!
This year saw the 40th Anniversary of the Glastonbury festival and once again Si Mark and I had the privilege of walking the many acres of Pilton in search of fun fun fun……and yes, we found plenty! Report here…
How do you celebrate two important birthdays when you’re a father and son? Why not hire a pub for an afternoon, put on a free bar, food and have a great Jazz band play to boot! That’s what Ivan (50) and Roy (80) did and I was proud to there.
